Omega Planetes comes to Monster Hunter Wilds in late September, Arkveld comes to Final Fantasy XIV in early October

CAPCOM and Square Enix announced during the gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 event on Tuesday a collaboration between the Monster Hunter Wilds and Final Fantasy XIV Online games. The first trailer reveals the Omega Planetes monster based on the creature from Final Fantasy XIV coming to Monster Hunter Wilds' third title update in late September along with a Chocobo skin for Seikrets and a tease for Cactuars: The Final Fantasy XIV-focused trailer teased Seikrets as new mounts and Arkveld from Monster Hunter Wilds as an encounter, scheduled for early October. Monster Hunter Wilds producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Final Fantasy XIV director and producer Naoki Yoshida (also known as Yoshi-P) came up on stage at the event to talk about the collaboration: Final Fantasy XIV and the Monster Hunter series previously collaborated for the former's Stormblood expansion and the latter's Monster Hunter World game in August 2017. Final Fantasy XIV added a Rathalos trial and mount, Palico and Poogie minions, furniture items, costumes, and furniture. Monster Hunter World added the Behemoth monster from the Final Fantasy franchise.The Monster Hunter Wilds game debuted globally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on February 28. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn launched on Windows PC and PlayStation 3 in August 2013, on PlayStation 4 in April 2014, and on PlayStation 5 in May 2020. The game launched for Xbox Series X|S in March 2024. Square Enix has since released five expansions: "Heavensward" in June 2015, "Stormblood" in June 2017, "Shadowbringers" in July 2019, "Endwalker" in December 2021, and "Dawntrail" in July 2024. The game has recorded 30 million registered accounts worldwide as of January 2024.Square Enix announced in February 2022 that it will continue support for the MMORPG for the next 10 years.The game is getting a mobile version for iOS and Android devices. Lightspeed Studios is developing the game, with the game officially licensed from and supervised by Square Enix.
